As summer is now here in all its glory (flash floods, lightening, hailstones the size of golf balls etc) thoughts start to turn to pre-season training in the youth age groups at the club. The first of these 'fitness' sessions will be on Sunday 5th July at 10:30AM.
The session will be open to all age groups (including parents ........... )
LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU ALL THERE.
On another point I came across the following articles on YSC site and they are well worth a read;

The importance of Rugby Culture - Part 2

Herts 7's, Sabres pictures and reports
Quick, they're coming
I want it, I want it
TRY, or perhaps NOT
Try coming
Why is that Sabre wearing a GREEN shirtSorry it's taken a while to report on the Herts 7's and post the link to the proffesional pics but here we go;
Kelsey and Alex both played their part in the Sabres squad that started very slowly in the group matches and lost to both Paviours and West Oxon before they woke up.
In the third match against Saracens the girls all suddenly realised that they did actually know each other and started to play the rugby that they are capable of, winning the match 3 tries to 1 and progressing to the U18 bowl semi-final.
Because of the schedule for the day they then had to wait 2 and a half hours whilst the U15's and U12's played their pool matches.
Nomads, including Maya and Shelby, started very well, in what proved to be a somewhat up and down day, beating Letchworth quite convincingly before losing to a strong Worcester side.
They then beat Old Northamptonians and lost narrowly to Berks Barbarians to also progress to the U15 bowl semi-final.
Sabres managed to take their momentum that they had found in the pool stage into the knockout competition, beating Thomas Beckett School 27-0 (I think) in the semi-final and Bucks Jesters 14-0 (I think) in the keenly contested final to be crowned Herts 7's bowl champions.
Nomads, were paired against West Oxon in their semi-final and although everyone of them put in 110% they eventually lost 10-5 to a strong, well organised team.
All of the girls should be really proud of themselves as they all contributed to a fantastic day of rugby which was brilliantly organised and run by the OA saints.
For more pictures please go to www.washbrooke.com, click on online albums and then Herts 7's,pitch 2 for Sabres and pitch 4 for Nomads.

Results from the Herts 7s
Initial reports tell that the Norfolk Nomads (Under 15s) narrowly lost 2 of their pool matches before losing out 10-5 in the semi final for the bowl.
The Suffolk Sabres (featuring some of our number) won the bowl for that age group in the final 14-0 after winning the semi 27-0.
As mentioned this is just initial reports and further details (and confirmation of scores etc) will follow..........

I know YOU are out there somewhere
We are always looking for new girls to enter the world of female rugby.
If you are aged between 12 and 17 and would like to know more about the sport please get in touch with me, I am an ex-player and girls coach for Swaffham and Norfolk Nomads and can offer further information, if you would like to give it a go I can also put you in touch with the girls section at your local club.
There is no prior experience needed, most of the girls currently training have only limited experience and just remember that all of the best sports stars started their career somewhere.
If you are interested but your parents are not so sure and would like to speak to me please ask them to drop me a line and I will ring them back, my details are as follows;

Girl’s rugby is one of the fastest growing sports in England so why shouldn't YOU be a part of it?
Try not to come alone, bring a friend, but if your friends are not interested there is still no reason why YOU shouldn't. All of the girls are very friendly and welcoming.
See you soon.
